Accessibility statement
Prepared on 29 August 2026, measured as of that date.
Prindla OÜ wants prindla.ee to be usable by as many people as possible, whatever assistive technology they use. We apply the EN 301 549 standard, which refers to WCAG 2.1 level AA.
Conformance status
The shop is PARTIALLY CONFORMANT with the standard. That means most requirements are met, but the shortcomings listed below are known and not yet fixed. We do not claim full conformance – a statement has to tell the truth, not what we would like it to say.
Known shortcomings
These are measured, not estimated – contrast ratios are calculated and attributes counted:
- Required form fields are marked only with a red asterisk. No field carries the required or aria-required attribute, so neither a screen reader nor the browser’s own form support knows which fields are mandatory (WCAG 1.3.1 and 3.3.2).
- Error messages are not programmatically associated with their fields – the aria-describedby attribute is not used anywhere in the shop. Returning to a field in error, a screen reader does not read the message out (WCAG 1.3.1 and 3.3.1).
- The border of input fields and selects has a contrast ratio of 1.89:1, where 3:1 is required. A person with low vision cannot see where a field begins and ends (WCAG 1.4.11).
- Inline links differ from the surrounding text by colour alone and the contrast between them is 1.61:1, where 3:1 is required. The underline appears only on hover (WCAG 1.4.1).
- The button that clears catalogue filters is in Estonian on the English page and carries no language marking, so a screen reader pronounces it with the wrong rules (WCAG 3.1.2).
- In the cart, the quantity buttons on every row share the same name (“Decrease quantity”), so a screen reader user cannot tell which product’s quantity they are changing (WCAG 4.1.2).
What already works
Every image has a text alternative, form fields have associated labels, status messages reach screen readers, actions are real buttons and links, there is a “skip to content” link, the page language is declared, modal dialogs trap focus and close with Esc, and the contrast of text and buttons exceeds the required 4.5:1. Template accessibility linting runs in the build with no rule disabled.
